Nepal as a country is rich in bio-diversity with perfect concurrence of all three types of geographics vie Himalayas, Hills and flat terrain (aka Terai), within an average width of only 80 miles. This in practice means that different bio-diversity an be encountered in very short distances of travel.
One such biodiversity can be well witnessed in the hilly region of far eastern region pf Nepal esp. Ilam district. This region is characterized by presence of lavish tea estates, most of which are privately owned, and produces one of the world’s finest orthodox and specialty tea.
Nepal tea has a very long history of more than 170 years as started in the year 1863 AD which is presently dominated by small co-operatives and self-owned style firms.
Today Nepal produces several varieties of specialty teas like Green Tea (rolled and curly), White Tea, Silver & Golden needles, Oolong Tea, Black orthodox tea (hand/machine rolled and curly), osmosis red tea to name a few. Most of the produces are exported to European, American and Asian countries.
